“No one can find what will work for our cities by looking
at suburban garden cities, manipulating scale models, or
inventing dream cities. You’ve got to get out and walk.”
Jane Jacobs, Urban Visionary
Inspired by the legendary Jane Jacobs, JANE’S WALK is a now a global activity occurring in cities around the world. In May 2012 Katy McKay brought Jane’s Walk to Halifax and Friends of Halifax Common (FHC) hosted five. Led by volunteers with an enormous breadth of expertise, the walks were so well-received that FHC decided to make them available on-line. We invite you to explore the Halifax Common.
